Qld: Court clears man jailed over alleged rape
BRISBANE, Feb 24 AAP - The Court of Appeal has quashed the conviction of a man found
guilty of raping a 10-year-old girl in north Queensland more than two decades ago.
In September last year a Townsville District Court jury found 52-year-old Townsville
man Patrick Dominic Thaiday guilty of raping a 10-year-old girl - now a 35-year-old woman
- in Rasmussen in the mid-1980s.
Thaiday had pleaded not guilty to rape and a charge of indecent dealing with a child under 14.
But he was sentenced to eight years in jail.
