NSW: National road toll rises to 27 after Vic woman's death
The national holiday road toll has risen to 27 deaths .. after a 23-year-old woman
was killed when her car crashed into a power pole in Melbourne's west.
Police say the woman's car veered off a dirt road and into the power pole at Rockbank
.. at about nine o'clock (AEDT) this morning.
She was the sole occupant of the car and died at the scene.
Victoria now leads the grim Christmas road toll .. with nine people killed.
Both Western Australia and NSW have recorded five deaths .. while in Queensland three
people have died on the roads.
The have been two road deaths in South Australia .. and one each in the Northern Territory
.. Tasmania and the ACT.
But the toll is four less than the same time last year.
