QLD:No budge on Qld police move-on powers
Police move-on powers in Queensland will remain mostly unchanged despite a Crime and
Misconduct Commission report calling for them to be watered down.
The CMC reviewed the laws after a request by the government and made recommendations
in December last year.
It says the powers should remain .. but should only be used when there are behavioural
issues in public .. not against a person for merely being present in a public space.
Minister for police .. NEIL ROBERTS has rejected the CMC proposal .. saying the proposed
restrictions would make it more difficult for police to intervene in situations before
they escalate.
